CASE STUDIES
Fuel Management - Mobile Fueling
A Mid-Atlantic trucking company with twenty four highly
paid drivers was sending drivers to retail stations for fueling.
Drivers were fueling daily and the trips to the retail location were
driving up the company's overtime pay expenses.
Sokolis Group moved the company from its retail fueling
procedure to an on-site fueling solution.
The on-site fueling solution delivered by Sokolis Group
reduced overtime, resulting in a reduction in the fleet's weekly driver
payroll.
Fuel Management
A Mid-Atlantic region Port operation was struggling with
the high cost of fuel and paying for fuel daily based on daily delivery
slips instead of invoices.
Sokolis Group negotiated more attractive pricing and
instituted a fuel purchasing program designed to require fewer
deliveries and regular invoicing.
The company moved to more efficient weekly invoicing and
saw their fuel and propane costs drop over 10% per gallon.
Fuel Management - Procurement
A national company was being denied service and fuel
products after filing for bankruptcy and did not have enough fuel on
hand to service their customers.
Sokolis Group contacted the company's vendors and set up
payment agreements, security deposits and wire transfers for all
invoices to ensure the vendors would continue providing to fuel our
client. New vendors and terms were secured in instances where we were
unable to come to terms with the current vendors.
The client was able to secure the fuel they needed
within a day or two and suffered no significant business interruption.
Operational Process Optimization
A large regional oil company recognized their fuel and
additive purchasing program, which relied on daily "price shopping" and
routinely routing drivers to different suppliers, was inefficient and
likely increasing driver hours and fuel costs in the long run.
Sokolis Group identified the closest qualified vendors
to the company's terminal, contacted vendors and negotiated low-margin
pricing contracts on behalf of the client.
Driver and fuel costs were reduced due to the result of
the close proximity of the contract vendors.
Fuel Management - Over Charges
A national environmental service company had been
purchasing
fuel from a national mobile fuel provider. They liked the convenience
of the service but throught their pricing was too high.
Sokolis Group did an audit on all of the fuel bought by
the
environmental company. Through the audit it was discovered that a large
price increase was given by the fuel provider without letting the
customer know.
We were able to work out a deal with the fuel company to
refund and write off over $35,000 of overcharges to the client.
Fuel Management
The new management of a large national hauling company
wanted to institute a structured fuel program that would be more cost
efficient than the current practice of drivers fueling up anywhere
on-road.
An in depth analysis performed by Sokolis Group,
revealed a number of fueling network gaps. Sokolis Group moved quickly
to develop a fuel program strategy that would take driver routes and
terminal locations into account. We created a new network of fueling
locations and negotiated with many national vendors including truck
stops, card-locks, mobile fuel companies and card companies.
As a result of the strategies developed by Sokolis
Group, the company saved over $1.5 million in just two years.
Fleet Consulting - Sales
A large regional oil supply company was expanding its
operations in mobile fueling.
The Sokolis Group put improved sales processes in place
and helped lay out a strategy for the company to grow but not to hurt
customer service.
Within one year the company's volume tripled and bottom
quadrupled.
Opportunity Development - Outside Sales
A national oil company and regional company did a joint
venture to expand its product offering. They brought the Sokolis Group
in as its outside sales force for it to grow its market position.
Several new clients were signed and the venture was considered a big
success.
Fuel Management - Fuel Card Solution
One of the country's largest building material
companies, did not have any fuel procurement or system plan in place.
The Sokolis Group helped put a 6 month detailed study
and analysis together on how the company and its 200 plus locations
could get things under control.
By negotiating with the card provider, service companies
and oil companies, the company now has projected savings of $650,000 in
the first year.
Fuel Management - Fuel Card Solution
One of the nations most will respected food distribution
company was using a national fuel card. During our audit review we
discovered that they were paying full retail price at truck stops.
We renogatiated their fuel card contract and put in discount programs at truck stops saving the company $85,000 a year.
